Learn The Basics Of Chinese In Only Sixty Minutes!

Learn The Basics Of Chinese In Only Sixty Minutes!

Why do some people find it is difficlut to learn a foreign language, while others not? When it comes to choose the most difficult foreign language to learn, Chinese would definitely be one of them. However, we cannot deny that Chinese language is an important language to learn since there are 1.3 billions of world pouplation use it as their first language, compared with less than 500 million of native English speakers.

ShaoLan Hsueh – an inspiring tech entrepreneur, investor, creator and author has built Chineasy into one of the most popular methods of learning Chinese across social media and the Internet in less than one year after her well-received TED talk. In the workshop with ShaoLan, she is going to show you how she makes this world’s most popular language – Chinese more accessible. It is not only effective but a lot of fun too! Learn not just how characters are composed and structured, but also an easy and innovative way to memorize them by using smart technologies. And find out how technology and design are helping bridge the linguistic gap between West and East. ShaoLan will walk through a simple lesson in recognizing the ideas behind the characters and their meaning — building from a few simple forms to more complex concepts. Call it Chineasy.

Chineasy is not only a language learning project to ShaoLan. ShaoLan sees it as a way to bridge the gap between the East and the West. She will also share her vision in education—empowering through aquiring knowledge effectively and efficiently.

This is not the first time for ShaoLan to create something brandnew in this competiteve business-world. She is an entrepreneur with extensive business experience in both Asia and Europe. At the age of 22 whilst studying for her MBA she wrote four best-selling books on software in Taiwan, which were awarded 'book of the year' after their publication. She co-founded pAsia, one of the major players on Internet in Asia in 1990's, aged 24. After a second masters degree at the University of Cambridge she began Caravel Capital which she founded in 2005 to advise young technology companies. In this workshop, she will also speak from her first-hand experience and share with you how to start a tech-driven business in a male dominant industry.
